Hi, my name is Sean from Excavator Attachment Manufacturers. Today, I’ll be showing you how we operate our Hydraulic Eagle Shear, focusing on the 775 model on our Doosan 420. I’ll cover how to maximize the life of your blades and handle rough materials.
When you install new blades:
- Start with lighter materials to ensure the blades and shims are properly set up.
- As the tolerances widen, you can start cutting heavier materials like trucks.
- Avoid cutting hardened shafts, leaf springs, or other tough materials that can damage the blades and other parts.
To get maximum blade life:
- Use the tip of the shear only when necessary. Avoid unnecessary piercing to prevent wear.
- For larger pieces, make sure they fit well into the jaw and use the Apex of the shear.
- Utilize the shear’s geometry by adjusting the shear angle to efficiently handle materials.
When cutting:
- Always check what’s inside the material you’re cutting to avoid damaging your equipment.
- For trucks or similar items, be cautious of hard parts like axles, leaf springs, or forks.
- Begin with lighter materials and gradually move to heavier ones. Keep an eye on what you’re cutting to avoid excessive wear on the shear’s tip.
Maintenance Tips:
- Regularly check and tighten all bolts and inspect the shear.
- Avoid cutting parts that are difficult to shear. Instead, break them off the mounts if possible.
- Ensure materials are fed completely into the Apex for clean cuts.
